Big Ten Football Teams 2026: Every Team Ranked

Eighteen teams, one brutal gauntlet. The Big Ten is still adjusting to life as a coast-to-coast super-conference, and the gap between the top and bottom of the league has never been more obvious.

This list ranks all 18 members as they head into the 2026 season, based on program strength, recent results and where the fan conversation actually sits. It's not a bracket prediction, it's a snapshot of who matters right now.

How we ranked them

We weighed recent on-field results, overall program trajectory, roster and coaching stability, and how the broader fan and media conversation talks about each team heading into 2026. Realignment newcomers were judged on what they've actually shown in the Big Ten so far, not just their old conference reputation. Where consensus was split, we made a call and explained our reasoning rather than splitting the difference.
