Privacy Policy

The short version
Anyone can read our rankings without an account. To vote or make your own rankings you create a free account. The rankings you make are private: only you can see them, unless you turn on a share link for one. We don't sell your data.
What we store
- Your account: username, email address and a securely hashed password (we never see or store the password itself), plus what you told us you like to rank and whether you want the weekly email.
- Your rankings, saved to your account so they work on any device. Images you upload to a ranking are stored with it.
- Your votes in matchups and polls, tied to your account so you aren't shown the same one twice. Community rankings only ever show votes added up, never who voted for what.
- Share links: when you turn one on, anyone with that link can see that one ranking and your username. You can turn it off any time.
- Reports: when you report a wrong picture or item, we keep what you sent so we can fix it.
- Standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested), kept for security and to keep the site running.
We email you about your account: a link to confirm your email address when you sign up, and a link to reset your password when you ask for one. If you turn on the weekly email (at sign-up or in your account), we also send a Friday email with the week's most-voted rankings and new lists. Every weekly email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn it off in your account any time. Emails are sent through our email provider, Resend, which receives your email address for that purpose.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to count visits and see which pages people use, so we know what to improve. It uses cookies and collects things like the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your rough location (from your IP address). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off unless you agree to them. We also use a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, which the site needs to work. There are no ads on the site today; if we add them, we'll update this page first.
Search
When you search for a show, movie or album in the tool, your search words are sent to the service that supplies those results (TVmaze, Apple or Deezer).
Where your data is kept
Our site and database run on Railway, and pictures are stored on Cloudflare, both in the United States.
Your choices
From your account page you can download your data, change your details, or delete your account. Deleting your account deletes your rankings and turns off your share links. You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time. For anything else about your data, reach us through our Contact page.
Children
Rank Parade is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has made an account, email hello@rankparade.com and we'll delete it.
Changes
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page.
