NBA Rookie Class 2026-27: Every Prospect Ranked

The 2026-27 rookies are finally on NBA floors, and the debate that started on draft night hasn't cooled off one bit. This class has real depth, the kind of top-to-bottom talent that people are already comparing to 2023's group, and the argument over who sits at the very top is nowhere close to settled.

We ranked these 9 names based on what's actually showing up: summer league tape, early scouting buzz, and the ongoing forum fights over who's the safer bet versus who's got the taller ceiling. Fair warning, this list will look different in March. That's half the fun.

Think we got the order wrong? Good. Argue about it, rank it yourself, come back when someone's a bust or a steal.

Cameron Boozer

Boozer is the one name almost nobody argues about. Scouts keep calling him the 'surest bet' in the class, and betting markets have him favored for Rookie of the Year because his game is just that polished and efficient already. He's not the flashiest highlight reel, but he's the guy evaluators think makes an All-NBA team first, mostly because his fundamentals travel well no matter the system Memphis puts around him.

About Cameron Boozer

Forward out of Memphis and one of the most polished, fundamentally sound prospects in the 2026-27 class. Widely viewed as the betting favorite for Rookie of the Year.

Darryn Peterson

Peterson was the consensus number one prospect before the draft, and the shooting and scoring touch are exactly why. But he's also, by his own scouting reports, the most controversial player in the class right now. Hamstring durability questions, turnover issues, and foul trouble showed up early, which is why some scouts have cooled slightly even as others still vote him the fastest path to superstardom.

About Darryn Peterson

Guard taken by Utah as the #2 overall pick who entered the draft process as a presumptive top prospect Known for scoring touch and shooting ability, but durability and turnover questions have followed him into the pros.

AJ Dybantsa

If you're voting on pure ceiling, Dybantsa gets the most votes among scouts surveyed, full stop. The physical tools are described as out-of-this-world, the kind of frame and explosiveness that make you squint and see a future All-Star. He's less proven than Boozer right now, but nobody doubts the upside, which is why Washington fans are already dreaming big.

About AJ Dybantsa

AJ Dybantsa is a forward widely considered one of the top prospects in American high school basketball, committed to play college basketball at BYU before entering NBA draft consideration. He is known for his combination of size, athleticism and perimeter skill, and has been ranked among the top players in his recruiting class.

Darius Acuff

Acuff keeps showing up in every top-10 conversation, and for good reason. He's not in the four-man conversation for Rookie of the Year, but he's the clear next name people mention when that talk wraps up, and Sacramento gets a guy who should contribute real minutes early.

About Darius Acuff

Darius Acuff is a point guard regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, projected as a future NBA draft pick. He has drawn attention for his scoring ability and ball handling, playing high level high school and grassroots basketball before his expected move to college.

Brayden Burries

Burries is the name trending hardest right now. That summer league line, 50% shooting, 36.4% from three (over four games), with 4.3 assists per game and only three total turnovers across all four Summer League games, is the kind of stat line that turns heads and starts dark-horse Rookie of the Year chatter. Milwaukee might have gotten a steal here.

About Brayden Burries

Guard picked up by Milwaukee who turned heads in summer league with efficient scoring and sharp playmaking, sparking real Rookie of the Year dark-horse chatter.

BB Tier: Solid Value, Quietly Earning It

Yaxel Lendeborg

Yaxel Lendeborg

Lendeborg is the classic sleeper pick, a mid-first-rounder that evaluators keep flagging as someone who could outplay his draft slot. Golden State isn't expecting stardom on day one, but the fan consensus is that he's undervalued relative to where he actually landed.

About Yaxel Lendeborg

Forward drafted by Golden State, frequently named among the mid-first-round picks most likely to outperform their draft slot.

Matas Buzelis

Buzelis doesn't dominate the research notes the way the top names do, which is itself telling in a class this deep. He's solidly in the conversation without being part of the loudest debates, a steady presence rather than a headline.

About Matas Buzelis

Forward whose draft stock and role have been debated less in the top-tier noise, but who remains part of the broader deep-rookie-class conversation this year.

Donovan Clingan

Donovan Clingan

Clingan isn't showing up in the top-tier or sleeper conversations that are dominating this rookie class right now, which says more about how crowded the top of this draft is than about his actual game. He's a name worth watching once the sample size grows.

About Donovan Clingan

Big man whose name circulates in rookie-class depth discussions, though he hasn't drawn the same top-ten buzz as the guards and forwards above him.

Bobi Klintman

Klintman is in a similar spot to Clingan here, a name that hasn't broken into the major storylines yet this season. In a class this deep, that's not a condemnation, it just means the loudest buzz is happening elsewhere for now.

About Bobi Klintman

Forward who rounds out this ranking, with less first-year buzz attached compared to the rest of this talked-about class.

How we ranked them

We weighed early-season consensus from scouts and fan discussion, summer league performance, draft position, and the gap between floor and ceiling for each player. Polish and readiness count, but so does upside, since this whole exercise is about projecting forward, not just grading October box scores. Where sources split hard on someone, we said so and picked a side.
