Fantasy Basketball Rankings 2026-27: Full Tier List
The 2026-27 season tips off with the Knicks as defending champs, Giannis in Miami, and Jaylen Brown and LeBron James sharing a backcourt in Philly. That's a lot of fantasy chaos to sort through before your draft.
We ranked all 42 names based on where fans, forums and category-league grinders actually land, mixing points-league and 9-cat logic since most drafts still split that way. Where the research notes show a real fight (Jokić vs. Wembanyama, Cade Cunningham's breakout, Garland as a value pick) we picked a side and said so.
Use this as your cheat sheet, then argue with it. That's half the fun of draft season anyway.

SS Tier: The no-doubt first-rounders

Nikola Jokić
The safest first pick in fantasy, full stop. There's no category he hurts you in: elite field goal percentage, big boards, high assists, and enough steals to round out a stat line nobody else in the league matches.
About Nikola Jokić
All-NBA center for the Denver Nuggets, widely regarded as the most complete fantasy producer in basketball. Known for elite efficiency paired with huge rebound and assist totals for his position.

Victor Wembanyama
His blocks alone might be the single most valuable category asset in the game right now. Projections have him around 28 points, 11 boards and 4.2 blocks a night, and the only real argument against him at 1.1 is the 46 games he's missed the last two seasons combined.
About Victor Wembanyama
San Antonio Spurs center known for a rare combination of shot-blocking, rebounding and perimeter shooting at his size. Durability has been the main question through his first seasons.
- Position
- Center
- Team
- San Antonio Spurs
Also ranked in: 2026-27 NBA MVP Favorites Tier List

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
A top-3 lock in basically every format, though he plays very differently depending on your league. Category drafters love the elite shooting splits; points-league folks sometimes rank him lower because efficiency doesn't fill a box score the way volume scorers do.
About Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder known for his scoring efficiency and footwork around the rim.
- College
- Kentucky

AA Tier: Build your team around these

How we ranked them
We leaned on consensus: where most rankings, forums and format breakdowns agree, that's the backbone of the list. Category-league and points-league value both factored in, since a guy like Curry or SGA looks very different depending on your scoring. Injury risk, new team situations (Giannis to Miami, Brown and LeBron to Philly) and role certainty all pushed players up or down. When the research showed a genuine split, like Jokić versus Wembanyama for 1.01, we made a call and explained why.

Rank these yourselfFAQ
Who should I draft first in fantasy basketball 2026-27?
Nikola Jokić is the consensus top pick in nearly every format thanks to his all-around stat line. Victor Wembanyama is the main alternative, especially in category leagues where his blocks are nearly unmatched.
Is Victor Wembanyama a risky first-round pick?
His per-game upside is as high as anyone's, but he's missed 46 games over the past two seasons combined, so durability is the real question mark at the top of drafts.
How does Giannis Antetokounmpo's move to Miami affect his fantasy value?
The talent hasn't changed, but a new team and role create more uncertainty than usual for a player of his caliber, which is why he lands just outside the very top tier.
Is Jaylen Brown still a safe fantasy pick after joining the 76ers?
It's murkier than before. Sharing the court with LeBron James in a new offense means his usage and touches are harder to predict, even though his talent level hasn't dropped.
Who are the best value picks in 2026-27 fantasy drafts?
Darius Garland is the name coming up most often, with his move to the Clippers expected to push him back toward second-round production at a mid-round price. Immanuel Quickley and Walker Kessler are also mentioned as later-round value.
Should I draft rookies like Cooper Flagg this year?
Cooper Flagg is the clear top rookie name with real opportunity in Dallas, worth a look in most leagues. AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Matas Buzelis are more speculative, better suited to deeper or dynasty formats.
