F1 Teams Tier List: Every Constructor Ranked
Eleven teams, one grid, wildly different fortunes. We're ranking every current Formula 1 constructor from the ones genuinely fighting for championships to the ones still trying to find their footing, including the newcomers who haven't turned a wheel in anger yet.
This is built from what fans and pundits actually say on forums, podcasts and race-day debates, mixed with our own read where the room is split. Think we got one wrong? That's what the comment section is for.

SS Tier: Championship contenders, no argument

McLaren
Back on top and it's not a fluke. The papaya revival has gone from feel-good story to genuine championship machine, with a car that's quick everywhere from Monaco to Monza. Norris and Piastri racing each other for wins is exactly the headache every other team wishes it had.
About McLaren
British constructor based in Woking, one of the oldest and most successful teams in F1 history.
- Founded
- 1963
- Base
- Woking, UK

Red Bull Racing
Still a benchmark operation even when the car isn't the class of the field. The championship-winning years with Verstappen set a standard nobody else matched, and the team's aerodynamic know-how keeps them dangerous. The post-Newey, post-Horner-era questions are real, but you write this team off at your own risk.
About Red Bull Racing
Austrian-owned team based in Milton Keynes, UK, that became a dominant force in the 2010s and 2020s.
- Founded
- 2005
- Base
- Milton Keynes, UK
AA Tier: Big names, big expectations, close but not quite

Ferrari
The most famous name in the sport and still the one every driver dreams of, but the trophy cabinet hasn't matched the romance for years. Signing Hamilton was a statement, yet strategy calls and reliability gremlins keep turning title shots into what-ifs. Fans argue endlessly about whether this is a top team underperforming or a flattering midfielder with a legendary badge.</br>
About Ferrari
Italian constructor based in Maranello, the only team to have competed in every F1 season since the championship began.
- Founded
- 1950 (F1 entry)
- Base
- Maranello, Italy

Mercedes
The dominant force of the turbo-hybrid era hasn't fully recaptured that magic, but calling them a fallen giant is premature. The factory in Brackley and the engine department still set the technical bar for plenty of the grid. Russell has grown into a genuine team leader, and nobody expects this team to stay out of the fight for long.
About Mercedes
German manufacturer team based in Brackley, UK, that dominated the turbo-hybrid era starting in 2014.
- Base
- Brackley, UK
BB Tier: On the way up, or at least trying hard to be

Aston Martin
Ambition is not in short supply here. New factory, Honda power from 2026, and enough investment to make people nervous about what's coming. Right now the results are inconsistent and Alonso's talent is sometimes the only thing keeping the car looking competitive, but the pieces being assembled are serious.
About Aston Martin
British team backed heavily by owner Lawrence Stroll, rebranded from Racing Point ahead of the 2021 season.
- Base
- Silverstone, UK

Williams
A proud name that spent years stuck at the back is finally trending upward again. James Vowles has brought a sense of structure and purpose that was missing, and Albon has quietly been one of the midfield's better performers. Still a way from Grove's glory days, but the direction of travel is the right one.
About Williams
Historic British independent team founded by Sir Frank Williams, multiple championship winner now rebuilding under new leadership.
- Founded
- 1977
- Base
- Grove, UK

Alpine
Talented drivers, a works engine, and a frustrating habit of underdelivering relative to the name on the car. The Renault-backed project has had more management upheaval than momentum in recent years. Fans generally agree there's more potential here than the results show, which is its own kind of problem.
About Alpine
French constructor owned by Renault, running as Alpine since 2021 after previously competing as Renault and Lotus.
- Base
- Enstone, UK
CC Tier: Solid midfield, rarely the headline

Racing Bulls
The junior team to Red Bull under its latest branding, usually scrapping in the midfield rather than threatening the top. It does what it's built to do: develop young drivers and occasionally punch above its budget. Rarely thrilling, rarely embarrassing, just there.
About Racing Bulls
Red Bull's sister team, previously known as Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri, used to develop young drivers for the senior team.
- Base
- Faenza, Italy

Haas
The small American team that runs lean and leans hard on Ferrari for parts, which means its ceiling and floor both depend heavily on someone else's technical department. Some seasons it's a scrappy points-scorer, others it's anonymous. Fans respect the hustle more than they expect the results.
About Haas
American-owned team that races out of the UK and Italy, relying closely on Ferrari for parts and technical partnership.
- Founded
- 2016

Audi
Not on the grid yet as Audi, but the Sauber-to-Audi transition has been messier and slower than the hype around a manufacturer entry suggested it would be. The German brand's backing and ambition are real, so patience from fans is reasonable, but right now this is a promise more than a product.
About Audi
German manufacturer transitioning the Sauber team into a full Audi works entry.
- Base
- Hinwil, Switzerland
FF Tier: Too early, or too empty, to judge

Cadillac
An F grade here isn't an insult, it's just honest about the situation: a brand-new team with zero races, zero data and zero track record to judge. The American entry has generated plenty of buzz and GM's backing is nothing to sneeze at, but until a car actually turns a lap, this ranking is a placeholder, not a verdict.
About Cadillac
New American entry backed by General Motors, set to join the F1 grid as the newest constructor on the grid.

How we ranked them
We weighed recent on-track form and championship credibility, resources and infrastructure (factory, wind tunnel, budget cap efficiency), driver lineup strength, and trajectory, are they climbing or sliding. Historical pedigree counts for something but doesn't save a team that's currently stuck in the midfield or worse. Brand-new entrants are judged on pedigree, investment and realistic expectations rather than results that don't exist yet.

Rank these yourselfFAQ
Which F1 team is ranked best overall?
McLaren and Red Bull Racing top our list, both currently combining strong cars with genuine championship credibility.
Is Ferrari really not in the top tier?
Ferrari has huge resources and history, but years of strategy errors and near-misses mean fans broadly agree the results haven't matched the name, so we put them a tier below the current pacesetters.
Why is Cadillac ranked so low if it's a new team?
Cadillac hasn't raced yet, so there's no on-track evidence to judge. The low tier reflects the lack of a track record, not a prediction that the team will be bad.
What happened to the team formerly known as AlphaTauri or Toro Rosso?
That's Racing Bulls now, Red Bull's junior team under its latest rebrand, still focused on developing young drivers in the midfield.
Is Audi already racing in F1?
Not yet under the Audi name, the project is currently running as Sauber ahead of a full works entry as Audi.
Do fans agree on these rankings?
Mostly on the top and bottom, but the midfield (Aston Martin, Williams, Alpine) gets debated constantly since form shifts race to race.
