Power Rangers Series Tier List: Every Season Ranked
Over three decades of morphing, zord-building and monster-of-the-week chaos, and somehow the franchise is still going. We're ranking all 22 seasons from the original Mighty Morphin era through Cosmic Fury, looking at writing, villains, team chemistry and how well each series held up beyond nostalgia.
Fan opinion on Power Rangers gets heated fast, especially about the mid-2000s run and anything post-reboot. We've leaned on what forums and longtime watchers broadly agree on, then made our own calls where the fandom splits down the middle. Disagree? That's half the fun of a list like this. Rank it yourself and see where your favorite season lands.

SS Tier: The gold standard

Power Rangers in Space
The season that actually stuck the landing. Andros and the team closing out the Zordon era against Astronema and Dark Specter gave the franchise a real finale, with stakes that felt permanent instead of reset-by-next-season. Ask ten longtime fans for their favorite season and a good chunk say this one.
About Power Rangers in Space
The season that concluded the original Zordon-era storyline, following Andros and the team across the galaxy to stop Dark Specter and Astronema.
- Villain
- Astronema, Dark Specter

Power Rangers S.P.D.
A futuristic cop-squad premise that could've been gimmicky but instead delivered one of the franchise's best villain turns and a genuinely moving arc for Sky and Jack. The Omni Morphers and Delta Squad Megazord looked great, but it's the character work that keeps people rewatching this one.
About Power Rangers S.P.D.
A sci-fi police-themed season set in the future, centered on a special police division fighting alien crime.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
The one that started it all, and it still holds up for what it was trying to do: five teenagers with attitude, a guy in a skeleton suit for a villain, and Styrofoam rocks taking a beating every week. Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd are still the villains people picture when they hear the name Power Rangers.
About Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
The original series that launched the franchise in the US, adapting footage from Japan's Super Sentai. Follows five California teenagers recruited by Zordon to fight Rita Repulsa.
- Premiered
- 1993
- Villain
- Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd
AA Tier: Genuinely great seasons

Power Rangers RPM
Dark, weird, and unlike anything else on this list, RPM leaned into a post-apocalyptic world run by Venjix and actually let it feel bleak. Dr.
About Power Rangers RPM
A darker, post-apocalyptic season set in the domed city of Corinth, the last human stronghold after the robotic Venjix Virus took over the world. It is often praised for its mature tone and writing.
- Year
- 2009
- Based on
- Engine Sentai Go-onger
- Episodes
- 32

Power Rangers Dino Thunder
Bringing back Tommy Oliver as the mentor was a smart move, and pairing him with a genuinely funny trio of teens made this one of the breeziest, most rewatchable seasons. Mesogog is a forgettable villain, sure, but the team chemistry carries it easily.
About Power Rangers Dino Thunder
A season in which three teenagers are given dinosaur-powered morphers by their science teacher, who moonlights as the original Red Ranger, Dr. Tommy Oliver, to battle the villainous Mesogog.
- Year
- 2004
- Based on
- Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger
- Episodes
- 38

Power Rangers Time Force
A time-travel premise with an actual emotional core, thanks to Wes and Eric's rivalry and Jen's unresolved history with the future. Ransik works as a villain because he's got a real motive, not just world domination for its own sake.
About Power Rangers Time Force
A season following futuristic police officers who travel back in time to capture the escaped mutant criminal Ransik, widely praised as one of the strongest-written seasons in the franchise.
- Year
- 2001
- Based on
- Mirai Sentai Timeranger
- Episodes
- 40

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
Taking the Rangers into space on the Terra Venture colony gave this season a different flavor from anything before it, and Karone's redemption arc as Astronema is some of the better long-form writing in the early franchise. The Galactabeasts are a fun step away from standard zords, too.
About Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
A season following Rangers aboard the space colony Terra Venture who use Quasar Sabers and animal-themed powers to protect settlers from the space pirate Captain Mutiny and the insectoid Scorpius.
- Year
- 1999
- Based on
- Seijuu Sentai Gingaman
- Episodes
- 45
BB Tier: Solid, dependable Rangers

Power Rangers Ninja Storm
The jump to Disney brought a lighter, goofier tone, and Ninja Storm leans into it with a cast that feels more like actual friends than a tactical unit. Lothor is a lightweight villain, but Cam and the ninja academy setting give it personality the next few seasons lacked.
About Power Rangers Ninja Storm
A season following three ninja school students who become Power Rangers after their sensei is turned into a guinea pig, marking the first season produced by Disney after acquiring the franchise.
- Year
- 2003
- Based on
- Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger
- Episodes
- 38

Power Rangers Zeo
A transitional season in every sense, bridging Mighty Morphin's end with new zords and the Machine Empire as villains. It gets overshadowed by what came before and after, but the Gold Ranger twist and the shift in tone show the writers trying to grow the formula up a little.
About Power Rangers Zeo
A season following the Mighty Morphin Rangers as they gain upgraded Zeo powers from the Zeo Crystal to battle the returning Machine Empire, serving as a transitional season between Mighty Morphin and Turbo.
- Year
- 1996
- Based on
- Chouriki Sentai Ohranger
- Episodes
- 50

Power Rangers Wild Force
Animal-themed zords and a tenth-anniversary crossover with the original cast give this one a nostalgic pull, even if the plotting is uneven. Master Org is a decent villain, but the season's real legacy is that reunion episode.
About Power Rangers Wild Force
The final season of the original Zordon era storyline, following Rangers who harness the power of Wildzords to stop the villainous Master Org, culminating in a milestone crossover special with past Ranger teams.
- Year
- 2002
- Based on
- Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger
- Episodes
- 40

Power Rangers Dino Charge
Energems instead of standard morphers, a huge cast of Rangers, and a surprisingly fun comic-relief villain in Sledge's crew kept this one entertaining, even when the plot meandered. Fans are split on whether the back half holds up as well as the first, and honestly, we get why.
About Power Rangers Dino Charge
A season in which Rangers collect powerful Energems to keep them out of the hands of the villainous Sledge and his band of intergalactic bounty hunters. It introduced a large roster of Ranger colors and energems tied to prehistoric creatures.
- Year
- 2015
- Based on
- Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger
- Seasons
- 2 (Dino Charge and Dino Super Charge)

Power Rangers Mystic Force
Swapping tech for magic was a fun reset, and the Master Org... sorry, the Master villain arc, had real menace. It's a mid-pack season that never quite reaches the highs of the space-themed years but never embarrasses itself either.
About Power Rangers Mystic Force
A season that introduced magic into the franchise, following teenage sorcerers who use ancient spells and morph into Rangers to defend the Root Core from the Master, an imprisoned demonic force.
- Year
- 2006
- Based on
- Mahou Sentai Magiranger
- Episodes
- 32
CC Tier: Mixed bags with real flaws

Power Rangers Jungle Fury
Kung fu by way of animal spirits is a decent hook, but the season never fully capitalizes on it, and the villain roster feels thinner than it should. RJ as the wolf-spirit mentor is a highlight in an otherwise forgettable year.
About Power Rangers Jungle Fury
A season centered on martial artists who master animal-spirit kung fu styles to protect the world from the demonic Dai Shi, an ancient evil resealed after being unleashed from his prison.
- Year
- 2008
- Based on
- Juken Sentai Gekiranger
- Episodes
- 32

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
A rescue-squad premise with demons instead of robots as the threat is a neat swerve, but the execution is uneven and Diabolico never quite lands as a top-tier villain. Still has defenders who like its slightly more grounded, first-responder angle.
About Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
A season centered on a government-backed rescue team of Rangers who protect the city of Mariner Bay from demons unleashed from an ancient underground city.
- Year
- 2000
- Based on
- Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive
- Episodes
- 40

Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
A globe-trotting treasure hunt premise sounds fun on paper, and sometimes it is, but the writing often feels like it's going through the motions. Flurious and Moltor are fine villains without ever being memorable ones.
About Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
A season following a team of treasure hunters turned Rangers who race against the villainous Fearcats and Moltor's forces to find powerful jewels before they can be used to conquer Earth.
- Year
- 2007
- Based on
- Boukenger
- Episodes
- 32

Power Rangers Ninja Steel
A game-show gimmick villain in Madame Odius and a focus on a rock-band subplot make this one feel more juvenile than most, even by Power Rangers standards. Younger viewers tend to like it more than longtime fans do.
About Power Rangers Ninja Steel
A season following a team of teens who gain ninja-themed powers using Ninja Power Stars to defend Earth from the evil Galvanax, who hosts an intergalactic talent show to find the most powerful warrior.
- Year
- 2017
- Based on
- Shuriken Sentai Ninninger
- Seasons
- 2 (Ninja Steel and Super Ninja Steel)

Power Rangers Beast Morphers
Evox is a serviceable villain, but the season rarely rises above competent.
About Power Rangers Beast Morphers
A season featuring Rangers who merge human and Beastbot DNA to fight a techno-organic villain named Evox. It was the first Power Rangers season produced after Hasbro acquired the franchise from Saban.
- Year
- 2019
- Based on
- Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters
- Network
- Nickelodeon

Power Rangers Dino Fury
The cast has decent chemistry and the dinosaur-meets-magic premise is fine, but the season leans hard on imported Sentai footage in a way that shows. It's watchable without doing much new with the formula.
About Power Rangers Dino Fury
A season centered on a team of Rangers protecting powerful Dino Fury Keys from an alien warlord named Void Knight. It adapted the Japanese Super Sentai series Mashin Sentai Kiramager.
- Year
- 2021
- Seasons
- 2
- Based on
- Mashin Sentai Kiramager

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury
A shorter season that wraps up Dino Fury's dangling threads more than it builds something new, which makes it feel like an epilogue rather than its own story. Fans mostly see it as closure, not a standout in its own right.
About Power Rangers Cosmic Fury
The 30th season of Power Rangers, serving as the direct continuation and finale of the Dino Fury saga. It wrapped up ongoing storylines involving the team and a new cosmic-level threat, and was noted as a send-off season for the franchise's Hasbro-era arc before new seasons resumed.
- Year
- 2023
- Episodes
- 10
- Network
- Netflix
DD Tier: Rough stretches

Power Rangers Samurai
The reboot after the hiatus came out stiff, with dialogue that often feels like it's reading off cue cards and a villain in Master Xandred who overstays his welcome across two seasons. Jayden's secret-twin storyline is more eye-roll than twist.
About Power Rangers Samurai
A season following the Shiba family lineage of samurai Rangers who use elemental symbol powers called Kanji to combat the Nighlok, a race of monsters from the Netherworld.
- Year
- 2011
- Based on
- Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
- Seasons
- 2 (Samurai and Super Samurai)

Power Rangers Turbo
Widely considered the low point of the Zordon-era run, with a movie tie-in premise that never finds its footing and a tonal shift that alienated a lot of longtime fans. Divatox is a fine villain wasted on thin plotting.
About Power Rangers Turbo
A season that transitioned the Zeo Rangers into vehicle-based Turbo powers to fight the sorcerer Divatox, and marked the final season for original Ranger Tommy Oliver as well as the franchise's first feature film tie-in team.
- Year
- 1997
- Based on
- Gekisou Sentai Carranger
- Episodes
- 45
FF Tier: Skip it

Power Rangers Megaforce
Heavy reliance on recycled footage and a rushed, thin story make this the season fans point to most when they talk about the franchise's low points. Even the 20th-anniversary cameos can't save it from feeling like a placeholder year.
About Power Rangers Megaforce
A season marking the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers, bringing back many past Rangers in a special episode while a new team fights the alien Warstar and Toxic Insectoid armies before facing the returning Armada.
- Year
- 2013
- Based on
- Tensou Sentai Goseiger
- Seasons
- 2 (Megaforce and Super Megaforce)
How we ranked them
We weighed story quality and villain menace, how well the Rangers worked as a team, the strength of the suits and zords, and whether the season left a mark on the franchise or just filled a year. Nostalgia counts for something, but we docked points for seasons that lean on it too hard. Consensus from fan forums and reviews drove most placements, with our own judgment breaking ties.

Rank these yourselfFAQ
What is the best Power Rangers season according to fans?
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers in Space, and Power Rangers S.P.D. are the three seasons that come up most often as fan favorites, usually for their villains and the way each wrapped up its story.
What is considered the worst Power Rangers season?
Power Rangers Megaforce is the season most commonly cited as the weakest, mainly due to recycled footage and thin plotting.
Is Power Rangers in Space really the best season?
A lot of longtime fans think so. It closed out the Zordon era with real stakes and a villain arc (Astronema) that actually paid off, which is rare for the franchise.
Why do fans like Power Rangers RPM so much?
RPM took a much darker, post-apocalyptic approach than any other season, and used its budget limits creatively instead of letting them hurt the show.
Are the newer Power Rangers seasons as good as the classic ones?
Opinions are split. Seasons like Dino Charge have fans, but most agree the 2010s and 2020s seasons rarely hit the highs of the late '90s to mid-2000s run.
