Tier list

Overwatch Heroes Tier List: Every Hero Ranked

Overwatch has had a wild roster swing over the years, from the original 21 to the bloated, reworked cast we've got now with Overwatch 2. Some heroes stay relevant through every patch. Others get gutted by a single nerf and never recover.

This list covers all 46 heroes, including the newest additions and a few names that are still more rumor than reality. We leaned on what players and critics tend to agree on across forums and patch-note breakdowns, then made our own call when the community was split down the middle.

Ranks shift every season, so treat this as a snapshot, not scripture. Disagree with where we put your main? Good. That's half the fun of a tier list.

How we ranked them

We weighed general viability across skill levels, how much a hero shapes the meta, ease of getting value versus ceiling when mastered, and how often competitive and ladder players actually pick them. We also factored in community sentiment from forums and tier-list debates, since "good on paper" and "good in practice" aren't always the same thing. Newer or less-established heroes were judged on early impressions and available data, flagged where consensus is still forming.

FAQ

Who is the best Overwatch hero right now?

Consensus points to a handful of standouts like Kiriko, Ana, Mauga and Tracer, all of whom shape team comps and win rates across skill tiers.

What's the worst hero in Overwatch?

Among established heroes, Bastion and Torbjörn tend to sit at the bottom of most community rankings due to their situational, setup-heavy kits.

Is this tier list for Overwatch or Overwatch 2?

It covers the current hero roster as it stands in Overwatch 2, including recent additions, though several heroes originated in the first game.

Does this ranking change every season?

Yes. Balance patches shift hero viability constantly, so treat this as a snapshot of current consensus rather than a permanent ranking.

Why are some heroes in F tier?

A few names on this list have little to no confirmed public information available, so they're ranked low by default until more details or gameplay data emerge.
