Among Us Colors Tier List: All 18 Ranked
Among Us doesn't give any color a gameplay edge. Red isn't faster, White doesn't vent quicker. But if you've spent any time in lobbies, forums, or the endless pile of fan animations, you know some colors just hit different. This list ranks all 18, the 12 originals plus the six added later, based on what the community actually gravitates toward: meme status, visibility, vibes, and how often people fight over who gets to pick it first.
We pulled from fan polls, forum arguments, and our own lobby experience to settle the rankings. Where the community is split, like Coral versus Rose versus Pink, we picked a side and said so. Disagree? That's half the fun of a tier list like this.

SS Tier: The icons

Red
The most famous color in the game by a mile, purely because of meme culture. Red didn't earn 'always sus' through gameplay, it earned it through years of fan animations and jokes, and now it's basically the mascot color.
About Red
The classic sus color. Red is the default first slot in the lobby and the color most associated with being the impostor, fairly or not, thanks to years of memes.
- Reputation
- Always sus
- Lobby slot
- 1st

Pink
Loud, proud, and the color most likely to show up on a plushie. Pink's popularity has nothing to do with strategy and everything to do with just looking great in the character select screen.
About Pink
Bright, loud, and impossible to miss, Pink has become one of the most popular skins for fan art and merch despite (or because of) being the opposite of subtle.
- Status
- Original color

Black
Villain-coded without even trying. Pair Black next to White in any fan comic and you've already got a story, which is exactly why artists reach for it constantly.
About Black
Sleek and villain-coded, Black was one of the original 12 colors and often gets cast as the shady one in fan comics simply because of how it looks next to White.

- Original color
AA Tier: Always a solid pick

Blue
One of the originals, and it carries a weirdly emotional reputation in fan content, usually cast as the loyal one who gets betrayed. Solid, dependable, a little tragic.
About Blue
One of the original colors from Among Us's launch, blue reads as serious and a little sad, which is probably why it's a favorite for betrayal moments in fan animations.
- Status
- Original color

Cyan
Added after launch but adopted fast. Cyan gives players something crisp and uncommon without feeling like a novelty pick, which is probably why it became a staple so quickly.
About Cyan
Added after launch, Cyan is a crisp, cool tone that a lot of players reach for specifically because it's less common than the originals.

- Added color

Purple
Deep and a little mysterious, Purple is the color players pick when they want something that feels a notch above the basics without going full Banana.
About Purple
A deep, rich original color that reads as mysterious without trying too hard, Purple is consistently one of the more requested skins.
- Status
- Original color

Yellow
Bright to the point of being hard to spot on light maps, but fans love it anyway. It's basically Banana's respectable older sibling.
About Yellow
The brightest of the originals, Yellow is a visibility nightmare in bright maps like The Skeld's cafeteria lights but a crowd favorite for its banana-adjacent cheerfulness.
- Status
- Original color
BB Tier: Perfectly fine, nothing more

Green
Reliable, original, inoffensive. Green doesn't start arguments and it doesn't win polls either, it just sits there being fine.
About Green
A solid, no-nonsense original color. Green doesn't carry much baggage, which some players love and others find boring.
- Status
- Original color

Orange
Cheerful and forgettable in equal measure. Ask ten players to describe Orange's personality and most will shrug, which says it all.
About Orange
A cheerful original color that sits comfortably in the middle of the pack, neither beloved nor hated.
- Status
- Original color

Lime
A punchier, later addition that gives Green some real competition. Lime stands out more in a crowd, though some players still mix the two up from a distance.
About Lime
A punchy yellow-green added later, Lime stands out in a crowd and has become a popular pick for players who want something brighter than Green.

- Added color

Banana
Started as a joke color and somehow became a genuine favorite. Banana's whole appeal is that it knows exactly how silly it is.
About Banana
A joke-turned-favorite, Banana is literally a bright yellow skin with a banana-like hue that became a meme in its own right.

CC Tier: Easy to overlook

White
One of the originals, but a victim of its own simplicity. It gets lost next to Tan and Gray constantly, and that confusion drags it down.
About White
White is a bit of a problem child color since it looks nearly identical to Tan and Cyan to some players, leading to lobby confusion.
- Status
- Original color

Rose
Fine on its own, but it exists in Pink's shadow and most players just pick Pink instead when given the choice.
About Rose
A soft pink-toned added color that's close enough to Pink that a lot of players skip it in favor of the original.
- Status
- Added color

Coral
Opinion is genuinely split on this one: some players like the warmer tone, others see it as a redundant third wheel next to Pink and Rose. We're putting it in the middle because that's exactly where the arguments land it.
About Coral
A warm, salmon-leaning added color that splits opinion hard: some find it refreshing, others think it's redundant next to Pink and Rose.

- Added color
DD Tier: Mixed up constantly

Gray
Deliberately muted, which some players like, but it blends into White and Tan so easily that it rarely gets picked first.
About Gray
A muted added color, Gray is popular with players who want a low-key, neutral look that doesn't scream for attention.
- Status
- Added color

Brown
An original color that nobody gets excited about. Most casual fan polls put Brown dead last among the launch 12, and it hasn't done much since to change that.
About Brown
One of the 12 original launch colors, Brown is the color most often described by players as forgettable, sitting at the bottom of most casual polls.
- Status
- Original color
FF Tier: Nobody's first choice

Tan
The color most likely to cause a 'wait, who's who' moment in the lobby. Tan gets confused with White and Brown so often that it barely has an identity of its own.
About Tan
Tan is one of the most mixed-up colors in the game, frequently confused with White and Brown in fast lobbies.
- Status
- Added color

Maroon
A dark, muddy added color that reads as a knockoff of Red or Brown depending on the lighting. It's the color equivalent of a typo.
About Maroon
A dark red-brown added after launch, Maroon often gets mistaken for Brown or Red at a glance, which undercuts its appeal.

How we ranked them
We ranked these 18 colors on cultural weight rather than any in-game stat, since none exist. That means meme status (how often a color shows up as a punchline or trope), visibility and clarity in the lobby, popularity in fan art and merch, and general "pick rate" vibes reported across forums and discussions. We leaned on broad consensus where it existed and made a call ourselves where fans are genuinely divided.

Rank these yourselfFAQ
What is the most popular Among Us color?
Red and Pink consistently top fan polls and merch sales, even though Red's reputation is mostly built on meme culture rather than any in-game advantage.
Is there an actual gameplay difference between colors?
No. Every color in Among Us has identical hitboxes and stats. The differences are entirely about looks and the baggage certain colors carry in meme culture.
Which color is considered the most 'sus'?
Red, by a wide margin. It's the default color in the lobby and years of fan content have cemented it as the go-to impostor color.
What are the original 12 Among Us colors?
Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Black, White, Purple, Brown, Cyan, and Lime launched with the game. The rest, including Maroon, Rose, Banana, Gray, Tan, and Coral, were added later.
Why do players confuse White, Tan, and Gray?
Their colors sit close together on the lighter end of the spectrum, and in dim lighting or small lobby icons they can be hard to tell apart, which is a common complaint in fan discussions.
