Disney Channel Shows Tier List: Every Show Ranked
Disney Channel has had roughly thirty years of sitcoms, cartoons and everything in between, and that's a lot of theme songs stuck in your head. We pulled together all 33 shows, from the live-action era of "Lizzie McGuire" and "That's So Raven" through the Disney XD-adjacent cartoons like "Gravity Falls" and "Amphibia," and sorted them by how fans and critics actually talk about them now, not just how big they were at the time.
That means nostalgia counts, but so does rewatch value, writing, and whether the show actually stuck the landing. Agree, disagree, that's the fun part. Rank your own list and see how it stacks up against ours.

SS Tier: The all-timers

Phineas and Ferb
A cartoon that somehow worked for kids and adults at the same time, with jokes about Lawrence's lost shoe and Perry the Platypus running an entire secret spy plot nobody else in the house noticed. The songs are genuinely clever, not just filler, and the 'every day of summer vacation' structure never got old.
About Phineas and Ferb
An animated comedy about two stepbrothers trying to make the most of every day of summer vacation, while their pet platypus secretly works as a spy. Created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh, it ran for multiple seasons and spawned movies and specials.
- Format
- Animated
- Premise
- Summer invention comedy

Gravity Falls
Critics still bring this one up as proof Disney could make something close to prestige TV for kids. The mystery of Gravity Falls, Bill Cipher, and the Stan twins pays off with an ending that actually ties everything together, which is rare for a kids' show, let alone a Disney one.
About Gravity Falls
A mystery-adventure cartoon following twins Dipper and Mabel Pines spending a summer with their great-uncle in the strange town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. Created by Alex Hirsch, it's known for its tightly plotted mythology and ciphers hidden in the credits.
- Format
- Animated
- Creator
- Alex Hirsch

That's So Raven
Raven Baxter's psychic visions gave the show a built-in comedy engine, and Raven-Symoné's physical comedy carried entire episodes on her face alone. It also tackled things like racism and body image without turning preachy, which is why it's aged better than a lot of its peers.
About That's So Raven
A sitcom starring Raven-Symoné as a teenager with psychic visions who tries, and usually fails, to change the future she sees. It became one of Disney Channel's signature early-2000s hits.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Raven-Symoné

Kim Possible
A teen spy cartoon that balanced actual stakes with Ron Stoppable comic relief and Dr. Drakken's constant scheming, and the Kim-and-Ron will-they-won't-they never felt forced. "Call me, beep me" is still one of the most recognizable theme songs Disney ever made.
About Kim Possible
An animated series about a high schooler who moonlights as a secret agent, alongside her best friend Ron Stoppable and the naked mole rat Rufus. It's known for balancing genuine action with comedy.
- Format
- Animated
AA Tier: Excellent, no real weak spots

Lizzie McGuire
The animated inner-thought bubbles were a genuinely smart device, letting you hear what Lizzie actually wanted to say versus what came out of her mouth. Hilary Duff made awkward middle school universal, and the show's low stakes (a bad haircut, a crush) were exactly the point.
About Lizzie McGuire
A sitcom starring Hilary Duff as a middle schooler navigating everyday awkward moments, with an animated inner voice expressing her unspoken thoughts.
- Format
- Live action with animated segments
- Lead
- Hilary Duff

Wizards of Waverly Place
Selena Gomez and David Henrie's sibling rivalry over who becomes the family wizard gave the show real stakes most Disney sitcoms didn't bother with. It leaned into fantasy without losing the sitcom bones, and Alex Russo remains one of the more fully-realized characters the channel produced.
About Wizards of Waverly Place
A fantasy sitcom about a family of wizards whose siblings compete to become the family's one full wizard, starring Selena Gomez as Alex Russo. It later got a sequel series.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Selena Gomez

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody
Twin chaos in a hotel lobby is a simple premise that just works, and Dylan and Cole Sprouse's bickering never felt like a gimmick. London Tipton and Mr. Moseby rounded out one of the better supporting casts of the era.
About The Suite Life of Zack & Cody
A sitcom about twin brothers living in a Boston hotel, starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse, alongside Brenda Song as heiress London Tipton. It led to a spin-off set on a cruise ship.
- Format
- Live action
- Setting
- Boston hotel

Hannah Montana
The double-life premise was corny on paper but Miley Cyrus sold it, and the show's willingness to let the music actually be good (not just plot filler) set it apart. It defined a chunk of Disney Channel's mid-2000s identity whether you liked it or not.
About Hannah Montana
A sitcom starring Miley Cyrus as a teenager secretly living a double life as a pop star. Music was a core part of the show, with Cyrus performing original songs.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Miley Cyrus

The Proud Family
One of Disney Channel's few shows to center a Black family, and it used comedy to actually say something about community, food, and growing up without losing its sense of humor. Penny Proud's family felt lived-in in a way a lot of Disney sitcoms never bothered to be.
About The Proud Family
An animated sitcom centered on teenager Penny Proud and her family, known for being one of Disney Channel's earliest shows centered on a Black family.
- Format
- Animated
BB Tier: Solid, dependable favorites

Phil of the Future
A time-traveling family stuck in the present is a fun enough hook, and Phil's gadgets gave the writers room to get creative with sci-fi comedy. It never reached the heights of its contemporaries but it's a comfortable, underrated watch.
About Phil of the Future
A sci-fi sitcom about a family from the future stuck living in present-day suburbia, using futuristic gadgets to navigate ordinary teenage life.
- Format
- Live action

The Suite Life on Deck
Moving the twins onto a cruise ship opened up new settings but diluted some of what made the original sharp. Still enjoyable, still funny in spots, but it leans harder into broad gags than the show it spun off from.
About The Suite Life on Deck
A spin-off of 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody' that moves the twins onto a cruise ship for their education, continuing with much of the original cast.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- The Suite Life of Zack & Cody

Good Luck Charlie
The video-diary format for baby Charlie was a smart structural choice, and the Duncan family felt more like an actual family than most Disney sitcom households. Fans still bring up the Teddy-and-Charlie bond as one of the more genuinely sweet threads on the channel.
About Good Luck Charlie
A family sitcom following the Duncan family, framed around video diaries older siblings make for their baby sister Charlie to help her understand the family as she grows up.
- Format
- Live action

American Dragon: Jake Long
A half-dragon teenager balancing homework and a secret magical world never quite got the audience it deserved, but it's held up well with people who found it. The New York setting and dragon mythology gave it a flavor distinct from Disney's usual suburban sitcom backdrop.
About American Dragon: Jake Long
An animated series about a New York teenager who is secretly the guardian dragon of the city's magical community, balancing his dual life with his grandfather's guidance.
- Format
- Animated
- Setting
- New York City

Shake It Up
Bella Thorne and Zendaya's chemistry as CeCe and Rocky carried this past its sometimes thin scripts, and the dance numbers gave it an energy a lot of sitcoms lacked. It's remembered fondly mostly because of the leads, not the plots.
About Shake It Up
A sitcom following two best friends who become dancers on a local TV show, starring Bella Thorne and Zendaya.
- Format
- Live action
- Leads
- Bella Thorne, Zendaya

Jessie
A nanny wrangling four kids with very different personalities is a reliable sitcom setup, and Debby Ryan grounded it well. It's consistent and fun without ever really swinging for anything ambitious.
About Jessie
A sitcom about a small-town woman who becomes a nanny for a wealthy New York family's four adopted and biological children, starring Debby Ryan.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Debby Ryan

Austin & Ally
The songwriter-and-performer partnership gave the show an actual reason to have original music every episode, and Ross Lynch and Laura Marano had easy chemistry. It's a solid middle-tier entry that never embarrassed itself.
About Austin & Ally
A sitcom about a shy songwriter who partners with a confident but non-songwriting performer to launch his music career, starring Ross Lynch and Laura Marano.
- Format
- Live action

A.N.T. Farm
Gifted kids in a regular school is a decent premise, and China Anne McClain anchored it well. It gets overlooked next to flashier shows from the same stretch of years but it's perfectly watchable.
About A.N.T. Farm
A sitcom set at a school's Advanced Natural Talents program for gifted kids, starring China Anne McClain.
- Format
- Live action

Girl Meets World
The 'Boy Meets World' sequel had the impossible job of satisfying nostalgic adults and new kids at once, and it mostly managed it. Cory and Topanga as grown-ups worked better than expected, even if Riley and Maya couldn't quite replace the original chemistry.
About Girl Meets World
A sequel series to 'Boy Meets World,' following Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley navigating middle and high school, with several original cast members returning.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- Boy Meets World

Raven's Home
Bringing Raven back as a mom, now with her own psychic kid, is a clever enough twist to justify the revival. It doesn't hit the highs of the original but fans give it credit for not just coasting on the name.
About Raven's Home
A sequel series to 'That's So Raven,' following Raven Baxter as a divorced mother whose son inherits her psychic visions.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- That's So Raven

Big City Greens
A country family adjusting to city life gives this cartoon a sharp fish-out-of-water engine, and Cricket Green's chaotic energy makes it one of the more purely fun recent Disney cartoons. It doesn't get talked about as much as it should.
About Big City Greens
An animated sitcom about a country family who moves to the big city, following their energetic kid Cricket Green as he adjusts to urban life.
- Format
- Animated

Amphibia
Anne Boonchuy getting stranded in a world of frogs turned into a surprisingly layered fantasy adventure with real emotional stakes by the end. Critics who stuck with it past the first season tend to rank it among Disney's better recent animated efforts.
About Amphibia
An animated fantasy series about teenager Anne Boonchuy, who gets transported to a world inhabited by frog-like creatures and must find her way home.
- Format
- Animated

The Owl House
A darker, witchier fantasy cartoon that built a passionate following and pushed boundaries for the channel in its storytelling and representation. Its abrupt wind-down frustrated fans, but what's there is consistently praised for ambition.
About The Owl House
An animated fantasy series following Luz Noceda, a human girl who stumbles into a magical world called the Boiling Isles and trains to become a witch.
- Format
- Animated

Star vs. the Forces of Evil
Magical princess Star Butterfly crash-landing into a normal teenager's life gave this cartoon a fun odd-couple premise, and it got weirder and more serialized as it went on. It has a dedicated fanbase who think it deserves to be ranked higher than it usually is.
About Star vs. the Forces of Evil
An animated series about Star Butterfly, a magical princess from another dimension sent to live with a human teenage boy on Earth.
- Format
- Animated
CC Tier: Fine, but not a priority rewatch

Sonny with a Chance
A show-within-a-show about a sketch comedy series had potential, and Demi Lovato was clearly talented, but it never quite found a consistent voice before it morphed into 'So Random!'. Fine in the moment, not that memorable now.
About Sonny with a Chance
A sitcom about a teenager who joins the cast of a fictional sketch comedy show, starring Demi Lovato. It later transitioned into a spin-off called 'So Random!'.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Demi Lovato

Cory in the House
The 'That's So Raven' spin-off moved Cory into the White House, which is a fun enough premise but never used it as well as it could have. It's mostly remembered as the show that followed a much better one.
About Cory in the House
A spin-off of 'That's So Raven' following Cory Baxter after his father becomes the White House chef, placing Cory in the middle of political high society.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- That's So Raven

K.C. Undercover
Zendaya as a teen spy balancing family and espionage is basically 'Kim Possible' with live action, and it's perfectly fine without ever topping the cartoon it echoes. Decent action-comedy, nothing that lingers.
About K.C. Undercover
A sitcom starring Zendaya as a teenager who is secretly a spy, balancing missions with family life and high school.
- Format
- Live action
- Lead
- Zendaya

Bunk'd
The 'Jessie' spin-off moved the action to summer camp and kept some of the cast, which worked as comfort viewing but rarely surprised anyone. It's stuck around a long time mostly by being inoffensive and reliable.
About Bunk'd
A spin-off of 'Jessie' that follows several of its characters to a rustic summer camp, continuing as a long-running series with cast changes over time.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- Jessie

Andi Mack
The ambition is admirable even when the show around it felt a little slower paced than its contemporaries.
About Andi Mack
A sitcom following middle schooler Andi Mack and her friends, notable for tackling more grounded, personal storylines than much of Disney Channel's usual lineup.
- Format
- Live action

Stuck in the Middle
Middle child Harley navigating a chaotic family of seven kids has a fun premise and some genuinely inventive visual gags, but it never broke out the way similar family sitcoms did. Decent, underwatched, a bit forgettable.
About Stuck in the Middle
A sitcom following Harley Diaz, the middle child in a large family of seven kids, known for its inventive visual style.
- Format
- Live action

Dog with a Blog
A talking dog with a blog is exactly as gimmicky as it sounds, and the show mostly coasted on that one joke. G Hannelius was likable, but the premise had a short shelf life.
About Dog with a Blog
A family sitcom with a twist: the family's dog can talk and writes a blog, though only the kids know his secret.
- Format
- Live action
DD Tier: Forgettable at best

Jonas
Built around the Jonas Brothers at peak fame, this leaned hard on the band's existing popularity rather than strong writing. It's remembered more as a tie-in than a show people actually followed for its plots.
About Jonas
A sitcom built around the Jonas Brothers playing fictionalized versions of a band trying to balance fame with ordinary teenage life.
- Format
- Live action

Bizaardvark
A show about kids making viral videos aged oddly fast given how quickly internet culture actually moved on from the jokes it was making. It had a likable cast but never carved out a strong identity of its own.
About Bizaardvark
A sitcom about two best friends who create viral comedy videos together, navigating friendship and internet fame.
- Format
- Live action
FF Tier: Didn't connect

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
A revival that leaned heavily on nostalgia for the original without recapturing much of what made it work, and the shift in focus away from the original dynamic left a lot of longtime fans cold.
About Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
A sequel series to 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' revisiting the Russo family years later with a new generation at the center of the story.
- Format
- Live action
- Spin-off of
- Wizards of Waverly Place
How we ranked them
We weighed cultural impact (did it define a Disney Channel era), writing and humor that holds up for adults rewatching, consistency across seasons, and how fans and critics discuss it today in retrospectives and forums. Longevity and spin-off success mattered too. Where fan opinion is genuinely split, we say so and explain which way we leaned and why.
